Customer's reviews..
Came here after being recommended by our hotel and definitely did not disappoint! The tofu was so delicate whilst the pork sirloin was so tasty. My sukiyaki was out of this world whilst hubby was totally impressed by his tonkotsu broth pork ramen noodle. Food was so full of flavour. We sat at the bar and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
We had an amazing meal at Nubo! The sushi, teriyaki and Stone Bowl Bibimbap. The food was all fresh, served quickly and decently priced. The service was really swift and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.

Customer's reviews..
Food was good but service was definitely not up to par for the amount of money it cost. We had to ask for side plates$ water and for the waitress to take our drink order. She also missed my Mom's order. All in all the food was good.
I ordered assorted sashimi to go the other day for dinner. The sashimi were pretty fresh, and the service was great. The only thing I want to complain was, they put tamagoyaki (sweet egg omelette) in my sashimi, then the fishes tasted sweet, tamagoyaki tasted fishy.Plus I haven’t seen any restaurant in the greater Victoria that put tamagoyaki in their sashimi combo (people can request for tamagoyaki in the sashimi, but I didn’t, they didn’t ask me either)

I must preface this by saying I don’t usually write reviews, but Margaret and Don have always made me feel welcome and at home whenever I visit and I feel it would be a sin to not recognize this somewhere where it matters. The sushi, service, and hospitality provided by them and their staff are by far the best I’ve ever experienced at any other restaurant. The service is always quick, I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes for my order. The sushi is exceptional quality and always presented in a pleasant, simple fashion. This is honestly my favourite sushi restaurant in town!
Excellent food and services! I made a quick stop to pick up some food before taking a ferry back to the U.S.We ordered a teriyaki chicken and tuna sushi bowl. The food was ready within 10 minutes and both dishes were very fresh and tasty. The tuna bowl with the spicy sauce (called Gochujang if you are familiar with Korean food) was filled with flavor. The owner provided more than excellent service - she brought us some cold water while we were waiting for the food to go and perfectly packed the dishes at our convenience. Her hospitality was one of highlights of our trip in Victoria.I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants fresh and healthy meals.

Customer's reviews..
Pub-like environment and energy. Service was friendly, efficient and patient with a group of 6. Food came out hot and based on reactions, everyone enjoyed their meals with many taking home what they could not finish.
We were surprised that it was so quiet when we went for lunch a few weeks ago and it immediately made us feel a bit nervous- like we had stepped into a place we weren’t supposed to. But that was soon changed with the exceptionally warm and friendly service as well as the quality/portion/value of the food. It goes well beyond one’s expectations as far as golf club restaurants go and I would have no qualms about visiting this place again. Great quesadillas and crispy fresh calamari. The steak sandwich kicked butt too.

Received my food 20 minutes after my friend. The server did not apologize and was short and mean with everyone we saw. The food was cold and below average. Considering this, we tipped 10% and received a very harsh stare in return with no ‘thank you’ or anything said as we walked out. I would spend your money elsewhere.
So fresh! The best sushi in Victoria! The service is wonderful and the price is worth it.

Victoria Sushi $$

Customer's reviews..
Tried the Spicy Salmon Lunch combo today. I can't say I was impressed. The included tempura was undercooked. I could tasted the uncooked batter in the broccoli and the yam was nearly raw. The avocados in my california roll were starting to brown, making me question the freshness. As for the spicy salmon roll, well it was spicy. It was perhaps the spiciest salmon roll I've ever had, and that's about all, there was no flavour to the sauce, just heat. The miso soup seems a touch on the bland side as well and lacks the usual seaweed and green onion I'm used to seeing. All in all, based on this experience, I wouldn't return.I won't go so far as to say it's bad...but there was nothing that left me saying I want more from here. There are lots of great sushi places around, try another.
Love the sushi here! Affordable and always delicious!

Customer's reviews..
We were able to walk to Matsuri on Menzies St. from our hotel for supper. It only had a few tables in the patio, and we agreed to come back in half an hour. We did get seated as promised. The server was very courteous, and the food was excellent, prices were fair. The night air in the patio was a bit cool, and there was a heater/lantern to keep the area warm.
Outstanding sushi and service! All the salmon is super fresh sockeye — delicious. The spicy salmon cones are great, salmon avocado rolls delicious…everything was great. We lucked out with a table on the small patio out front across from a park with beautiful sequoia trees…wonderful setting. And the staff were so friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

Perfect 43rd anniversary meal?
100% worth the hype. Visiting here as a tourist from the USA from recommendation of some local friends and I totally understand why.Food was AMAZING. I got the beef teriyaki, which was incredibly flavorful and generous in portions. Come hungry, you’re going to want to leave every plate clean! Seating and ambiance was comfy, and felt very friendly for groups and dates! Staff was helpful and food came out quickly— especially impressive for a Friday night! If you’re stopping through Victoria, this place is a must-go. I’ve never had a better beef Teriyaki than this, and I look forward to the next time I’m here so I can try some more amazing food!

Customer's reviews..
Great food. Friendly staff. The AC was a bit too cold so bring a warm sweater.
I haven't given a restaurant such a low rating in a long long time but this just really was that bad. We ordered take out and as soon as we took a bite of everything we felt robbed and just wanted all our money back. This place is not cheap ($8 for 5 dumplings.) The "crispy" dumplings were actually horribly soggy, greasy and lacking any flavour. The panko cheese tasted like processed cheese. But the worst was the udon noodle with beef. zero flavour at all in the broth. Even my partner who eats EVERYTHING said it was awful and just tried to poor a bunch of salt and pepper into it to get any taste. And he observed that the noodles were overcooked. It hurts to pay this much to dine out and be so badly disgusted by the food you just spent a fortune on.

great japanese sushi restaurant it has good service, good food and nice place i recomend you eat here
This would have been a 5 star if I hadn’t gone in person. The food is amazing and I’ve had it through delivery services a few times. In person the service can be best described as passive aggressive. I wish I could give 5 stars but the service in person was just awful.

Waited for my food for over 40 minutes when we got it we were missing half the order so we waited again until they got the rest of it and I got home and we were missing another item. Was hopping to have a nice meal on my girlfriends birthday it kinda killed our evening.I Do not recommend this place plenty of other sushi restaurants in town I would much rather go to.

Customer's reviews..
The waitresses were very polite, however service was incredibly slow despite my boyfriend and I being the only customers besides a man dining by himself. The food was given in small portions and was quite low quality.I ordered the salmon sashimi and it seemed to be quite old. It was chewy and tasted a bit off. The cuts were also very small. My boyfriend ordered the chicken kara-age but was very disappointed with the very little portion he was given. Not only were the wings very small, but he asked the waitress beforehand how many pieces came with the order (she said six) and he recieved 5. Thankfully she apologized for the inconvenience.I also ordered the goma-ae and oyster motoyaki, but there was no issue.
I went there for all you can eat and they served me and at the time of payment it was 40 dollars they were chrging me for leftovers and I said okay I can take it as togo if I have to pay for it. They refused to give me and they said you have to finish or pay for it.The lady was so rude and she was ordering me. Seriously I am paying 40 dollars plus taxes and you are talking about food wastage and being so rude. I dont recommend this 40 dollars all you can eat offer and food was okay

Friendly service that matched the food. We had many items, the BBQ squid was perfect. I would go back for this item alone. The assorted sashimi had a nice selection and was very fresh. Overall the meal was great and the having the tea pot on the table was nice extra by them.

Great value and quick! Small, unassuming place great for take-out or quick lunch. Big menu and best bang for your buck. Always pleasant staff.Food is good, not Out—of-this world but in a town of high-priced sushi - this is great.
These people are rude and their sushi is not even close to some of the other sushi places. You are rude to your customers. this is one of the worst places in Victoria. ROTTEN service and ROTTEN people, learn how to treat people.

Customer's reviews..
I placed an order here through SkipTheDishes. When I got to the restaurant, I tell the lady my name (on the order) and she says "I need the order number". I've ordered from SkipTheDishes many times and every time I've gone to go pick up my order, they've never needed more than my name. I give her the order number anyways and she then proceeds to ask me what I ordered. I told her "I don't know" because at this point I'm getting annoyed and I just want my order. Begrudgingly, she finally gave me my order. There was a caucasian woman and her daughter that came in while I was waiting and she was so polite and greeted them when they came to dine in.
This is by far the best sushi place I have been to in the Victoria area. The service is always excellent and the food is fantastic. I have been going here for years and I have never been disappointed. Their rolls have a very generous amount of meat/fish in them, while other sushi restaurants skimp on the meat. I highly recommend Yoshi Sushi!

Good but lacking consistency some meals are well prepared while others are botched. Two main complaints are the spicy rolls are hot sauce instead of spicy mayo and the last time me and my partner got gyoza they where terribly over cooked but still brought out to the table
Decent food, terrible service. Server not only ignored me to lean on the wall to scroll her phone, she also missed one of my food items and didn’t quality check.

Good place to go. I like Bella Bella Roll and Chiba Monkeys.
New owners? A new family?First of all, I want to preference that this is a family run restaurant of new comers. I admire their spirit and if you don't mind food that is not authentic please support them.Looking at the photos from other patrons I'm not sure I was in the same restaurant. Despite what the menu said. They seemed more focused on a take out business. After being seated I waited maybe ten or so minutes before my order was taken... then thirty minutes for my chirashi to arrive... which is just rice and sashimi on top.Okay now about the food. It wasn't authentic Japanese. The rice suffered from the Goldie-lox effect. Parts had too much vinegar or not enough or was just right. My guess is the rice wasn't mixed enough while adding the vinegar. However the texture was good and consistent. Now the sashimi. The scallop was the star. It was delicious and I wanted more. Often scallops don't taste as fresh. The rest of the sashimi was fine, it was cut right. However, I found the tomago off. It tasted like a Chinese egg tart. I love Chinese egg tarts but tomago is far from that. This is a sign that the egg was cooked too fast and dashi was not used.Oh also the wasbi was very watery. I've never seen this before and do not know what to contribute that from.

Went to try sushi at Kissako today, it was good however we asked for low-sodium soy and I’m fairly certain that it was still the regular soy in a low-sodium bottle.Besides that, the food is truly amazing and the quality is excellent. Sashimi slices are on point! The value is worth it.Service could be a little better; we felt a little rushed out just because we finished our meal. Perhaps another server is needed instead of one person taking orders, serving and processing payments.
Best sushi rolls in town! Fresh and delicious. Thank you for the awesome meal!
